In 1964, Charles Appleby and his partner Ray Koontz opened the Everett IGA Foodliner at the corner of Water and First Streets in Everett. The business continued at that location until 1971 when they moved into the present location on West Main Street in Everett.   Since that time, there have been three major expansions in Everett. In 1974 the produce department was expanded, in 1983 the bakery and deli were added and in 2003 a large warehouse addition with new freezers and coolers were added.   Charles Appleby’s sons Bob and Joe both began with the business at age 12 and assumed responsibility of running the store in 1981. In 1987 seeking new opportunities for the business a second store was opened in Saxton, formerly Masood’s IGA.   Continued growth at the Saxton location necessitated the need for a new facility. In 2004, land was purchased and ground was broken for a new facility. The new Saxton Market was built with a bakery/deli section including a sandwich shop. The facility also has a 4,000 square foot retail space separate from the grocery store that currently houses a pharmacy.   The Appleby’s look forward to continuing to serve their customers and communities with great service and quality products at affordable prices!
